Think about it: You load clothes into a machine, let it run for under an hour, transfer them to another machine for another hour, and the result is clean laundry. It is not like you are putting in hard labor the entire time, yet the payoff is substantial.

The only drawback to my laundry routine was that I owned an older washer and dryer that lacked the modern features and specialized settings that make the chore more efficient. That changed when I had the chance to test the Electrolux washer and dryer. Now, it is nearly impossible to keep me out of the laundry room thanks to these reliable appliances. From the initial delivery to the daily washing and drying of clothes, I navigated every step of the process and have been testing this set for six months.

I won’t sugarcoat it: The delivery experience was a nightmare. I cannot blame Electrolux for this, however, as my set was not purchased directly through the brand’s website. Still, dealing with a damaged dryer, countless phone calls, and an enormous headache made the acquisition process quite difficult. I doubt this is the standard experience for every washer and dryer delivery from this specific retailer, but I felt it was worth mentioning.

Once everything was finally resolved, delivered, and installed, I was thrilled with how the Electrolux set looked in my basement. These are truly attractive appliances that have a premium feel. Honestly, they are everything I wanted in a laundry pair—the kind of things you start dreaming about once you hit your 30s.

As someone who enjoys laundry, I was eager to fill the stainless-steel drum. While I probably should have consulted the manual, I wanted to see how intuitive the control panel was on my first attempt.

I had no trouble navigating the cycle options, such as Optic Whites, Heavy Duty, and Activewear, but I mostly stuck to the Normal setting. Months later, it remains my go-to choice. From there, I selected my water temperature (cool), soil level (normal), and spin speed (medium).

I placed my detergent pod into the designated compartment (which is separate from the slots for liquid detergent, bleach, and fabric softener) and started the machine. The Electrolux washer emitted a clicking sound to signal the door was locked, and it began the cycle.

The first thing I noticed after the hour-long cycle was that my clothes were spun exceptionally well. There was not a drop of water left on the garments. That was when I realized my previous washer was not as effective as I had assumed. It lacked the power to spin clothes dry, meaning they took a full 24 hours—or longer for thicker items—to air dry.

With the Electrolux, I can hang up shirts, pajama pants, and cardigans at night, and they are ready to be put away by the following afternoon. As the person responsible for laundry in my home, I appreciate this efficiency immensely.

I have not yet tested every single setting on the Electrolux washer. Fortunately, I haven’t faced a laundry emergency that required the 15-Minute Fast Wash. However, when I have a specific garment to clean, I know I have the right setting to handle it with care and keep it looking its best.

If I have to nitpick, there is one issue that likely won’t affect most users. At the front of the drum, there is a silicone seal around the opening. When I wash my toddler’s laundry, her tiny socks occasionally get stuck in there, leaving them quite soaked when I have to retrieve them. This is a very niche problem, so I am happy to report it is the biggest of my concerns.

The control panel on the Electrolux dryer is just as user-friendly as the washer. I rarely find myself adjusting the settings, as I typically use the Normal cycle with a “normal” temperature and dry level, along with the auto-dry feature.

Depending on the cycle you select, those settings will automatically adjust to the recommended defaults, though you can still customize them manually. Whether I am drying my husband’s athletic gear, our bed sheets, or a pile of towels, the Normal setting has proven sufficient. That said, there are plenty of other options, including Delicates, Air Dry, and Instant Refresh, which are gentler on fragile items.

One of the best features of both the washer and dryer is the massive drum capacity, which allows me to fit a queen-sized comforter in both with room to spare. With my old dryer, I would often pull the comforter out only to find it balled up with a wet center. I would then have to untangle it and run it through another cycle.

That is not ideal on bedding days, but the Electrolux dryer offers 8.0 cubic feet of space for the comforter to tumble and dry evenly. Furthermore, the moisture sensor allows the machine to intelligently estimate the drying time, and I have found it to be quite accurate.

I honestly cannot think of a negative aspect regarding this dryer. It performs its job well, offers customizable options so you don’t have to worry about delicate items, and looks great even in the unfinished section of my basement.

What is the life expectancy of an Electrolux washer?
